Valentine’s Day is a day that we shower that special one in our lives with praise, love and gifts. If you are on a tight budget there are still a lot of things to do in order to make your loved one feel loved. You don’t have to go out and buy them a super expensive gift in order to let them know you care. It can be something as simple as leaving them a note that expresses how you feel about them or picking a few flowers before they get up and leaving them somewhere they will find them while they get ready for the day.
If you are unsure about what to get them, try giving them something from the heart. Valentine’s Day is all about showing appreciation rather than giving them extravagant gifts. Try doing something simple like making them breakfast in bed or getting them a coffee or cup of tea while they are in the shower before work. Little things like this go a long way in letting someone know you love them. Try sprucing up their cup of tea or coffee with a small bouquet of handpicked flowers;(pinch some off the neighbours if you don’t have your own garden or go for a quick walk around your neighbourhood in order to find something nice.
You might also think about giving them a back rub or doing them a favour that they have been asking of you for a while. If you are a male who rarely cooks or cleans then do some cleaning or learn to cook a special meal for your significant other. Of course follow the meal up by doing the dishes as well. Valentine’s Day notes are also a really nice touch. Leave the note next to their dinner when serving it up or put it on their computer keyboard before they check their email in the morning.
On Valentine’s Day make some time to spend alone with your loved one. Go for a walk on the beach or if you are not close to the beach then go for a walk around the neighbourhood together. If you are planning on proposing marriage, Valentine’s Day is one of the best days of the year to do so. If you are particularly frugal this year for Valentine’s Day then keep some money aside for something special to give your loved one – even if it is just a cheap box of chocolates or a single rose.
